Mopar Grieves Loss of Former Team Member Scott Geoffrion

Image

Mopar mourns the passing of former NHRA Pro Stock driver Scott Geoffrion, who passed away on May 8 due to an apparent heart attack. Geoffrion, who was only 40 years old, was a part of "The Dodge Boys" racing entity that carried Mopar's dominance in the series in the 1990's.
Geoffrion made his entrance into the sport of NHRA Pro Stock drag racing in 1987, driving for Warren Johnson. Gaining experience behind the wheel for WJ, Geoffrion joined David Hutchens' Wayne County Speedway/Dodge Boys team as a teammate to Darrell Alderman in 1992. As part of the fabled team that was the driving force in the NHRA Pro Stock ranks in the early 1990's, Geoffrion won his first series event at Memphis Motorsports Park. Defeating Bob Glidden to earn the win, Geoffrion's victory came in his 10th final round appearance.
In his time with "The Dodge Boys," Geoffrion placed in the Top-10 in the NHRA Pro Stock Series point six times. He was the series runner up in 1992 and 1994, earning a career high six wins in 1994. Finishing second in the championship to his teammate Alderman, Geoffrion was named as the 'Car Craft Driver of the Year.' He notably finished third in the series points battle in 1993 and fourth in 1991.
In a career that spanned from 1987-2004, Geoffrion made 28 final round appearances in NHRA Pro Stock competition. Competing in over 200 events, Geoffrion was the fifth driver to join the Holley 6-Second Club, with a best performance of 6.938/198.63. His last ride came in a Ford powered machine with owner Hurley Blakeney in 2003. Geoffrion will always be remembered for his role in "The Dodge Boys" era.
Geoffrion is survived by his children, Kyle and Alexa, his brother, Rick, his sister, Michelle and his parents Richard and Jeanne. Public wakes will be held on Thursday, May 11, in California and Monday, May 15 at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, New Jersey. Geoffrion's funeral will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 900 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah, New Jersey at 10 a.m. EST on Tuesday, May 16.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Drag Racing Association of Women at drawfasthelp.org.
