HERBERT AND SNAP-ON INTRODUCE
INNOVATIVE PROCESS TO DRAG RACING
LINCOLNTON, N.C. (March 8, 2007) – Doug Herbert and the Snap-on Tools
team have one goal in mind: to win. Always seeking ways to improve
performance and develop the winning edge, Herbert and Snap-on Tools will
introduce a new and unique process to the sport of drag racing.
Following the ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals held in Gainesville, Fla.,
Snap-on Tools will be sharing its experience and expertise with the
Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster team by bringing in a consultant from
the world leader in lean business principles, Shingijutsu.
Shingijutsu has made waves in the manufacturing business through its
Quick Change Over process, a lean manufacturing process developed to
eliminate wasted human effort and reduce time in order to improve both
production quantity and quality.
How can this help Doug Herbert and the Snap-on Team attain their goal of
winning? Over the course of three days, March 20-23, consultants from
Shingijutsu will study how the team completes the between round engine
rebuild process, seeking ways to help reduce time, increase efficiency
and provide Herbert and his team with a competitive, innovative edge.
Snap-on and Shingijutsu have worked together over the course of several
years to provide continuous improvement throughout its production
facilities. Applying these principles to the engine rebuild process of
the Top Fuel dragster team speaks to the dedication and desire of both
Snap-on and Doug Herbert; the dedication to improving processes and the
desire to win.
