The Wsid Board Comments On Spurious Allegations

Tuesday, 27 March 2007 - Posted by General Release

(Sydney, NSW) After much discussion the Board of Directors and CEO of WSID Jim Read have decided the time has come to comment on the rumour and innuendo that has become a daily diatribe within some parts of the drag racing community since before the Summernationals.

First off, Jim Read, nor any of the members of the WSID Board of Directors have not been arrested, warned off the WSID Facility, are currently under investigatio n by ICAC, have been charged with theft, embezzlement, been removed by the Government or any other rumour that may have surfaced recently.

These Rumours are simply NOT TRUE

The WSID Board was contacted by a writer from a major Sydney daily newspaper and was asked if the Board had miss-appropriated over one million dollars and did Jim Read purchase his Top Fuel team with money stolen from WSID. This person went on to say he had been contacted by a former Doorslammer racer and proponent of the ARDC drag strip proposal in early 2000 who suggested that he had all the evidence that Jim Read and the Board had been involved in numerous illegal acts and should be investigated by this newspaper.

After speaking at length with the reporter in turned out that a lot of these allegations were of a verbal nature and were designed to cause instability within the drag racing community, allegations were also made by the WSID Motor Sport neighbors about Jim Read and the Bo ard.

The end result was that the WSID Solicitors served paperwork on this former Doorslammer racer regarding his statements and comments, which in basic English was "put up or shut up".

The future of WSID is secure; the future of the Board is secure. There are some exciting plans coming up which should be able to be announced soon regarding upcoming events at the facility.

The Board of Directors at WSID encourages any racer who hears any of these stories to call the track on 02 9672 1320 and ask to speak to Jim Read, that way you will get the truth on what is really happening.

On behalf of CEO Jim Read and the Board of Directors of WSID, we would like to thank the racers, crews, sponsors and the fans for their support of drag racing at WSID and we hope that you will continue to enjoy what is coming up.

Yours Faithfully
Jim Read CEO &
The Board of WSID
