SCHUMACHER LEADS PROS AT FIREBIRD!

Schumacher led the Top Fuel field laying down a string of 4.4-second
passes including a 4.471 at 333.25 mph, 4.485 at 327.27 and a best of
4.442 at 326.08 mph in Saturday’s testing at Firebird’s National Time
Trials. Track conditions were obviously prime as Schumacher was followed
by Brandon Bernstein at 4.487 at 328.46, Cory McClenathan with a 4.514
at 333.16mph, Doug Kalitta with a 4.527at 328.30mph and Hillary Will’s
4.530 at 325.92mph. Whit Bazemore came closer to earning his Top Fuel
license with a planed early shut-off pass at 4.629 at 267.11 mph in his
MATCO TOOLS dragster. Ron Capps scored funny car’s quick elapsed time
with a near record 4.678 at 325.92 mph in his BRUT Dodge Charger R/T.
John Force was second followed by Jack Beckman, Mike Ashley, Gary
Scelzi, Robert Hight, Ashely Force and Tony Pedregon all who clocked ETs
in the 4.70’s. Kenny Bernstein has yet to make a good pass and earn his
Funny Car license in his Ray Alley tuned Monster Energy Drink sponsored
Mopar. Testing will continue Sunday.
