Mopar and Samuel Hubinette will be major players in a week that
may change the sport of drifting forever. Leading up to the debut of
Universal Picture's "The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift" on Friday
and the premiere of cable network G4's drifting coverage on Sunday, Team
Mopar's Hubinette will be featured in a new
www.mo-pod.com podcast
titled "Hubinette Takes On Hollywood."
The video was filmed at a June 4 media day event held by Universal
Studios to support the world premiere of "The Fast & The Furious:
Tokyo Drift." The "Crazy Swede" gave rides to mainstream media in his
Mopar Dodge Viper SRT10, then capped the day off with a tire-smoking wild
ride that will be a must-see for drifting fans. The event also saw the
debut of the Mopar Dodge Charger SRT8, in which Hubinette will soon
compete.
The podcast drops at a time when drifting is receiving huge mainstream
press heading into the Friday nationwide release of "The Fast & The
Furious: Tokyo Drift," which focuses on an American street racer who is
sent to Japan and becomes immersed in the world of drift racing.
Hubinette, who served as one of the main stunt drivers in the film, was
featured Monday on the Fox News Network's "Geraldo at Large" program.
Drifting has also received recent network coverage on CBS and CNN.
The week ends with the debut of G4's 2006 drifting coverage on Sunday,
with race coverage from the first Formula D event at Long Beach scheduled
for 7 p.m., and the second event from Georgia's Road Atlanta at 8 p.m. The
episodes will feature extensive event coverage, with behind-the-scenes
peeks at drifting stars, commentary, analysis, drifting tips and tricks
from the pros, as well as coverage of the fans and culture. The G4 crew
recently visited Hubinette at home for a segment on what the "Crazy Swede"
does when he's not getting sideways.
