Team Mopar Midget Stars Look to Claim Belleville Midget
Nationals WinWhen the Mopar Belleville Midget Nationals field rolls off the front
stretch this weekend, Team Mopar drivers will be looking to add the title
of champion to their list of accomplishments for the season. Tony Stewart
Racing Enterprises’ Josh Wise and Levi Jones, Wilke-PAK
Motosports Jerry Coons Jr., and Team Mopar privateer Brad
Kuhn will seek to take the checkered flag, each with a different
motivation driving them to the finish.
Coons Jr., enters the July 28-29 event at the prestigious Belleville
High Banks carrying the momentum of a USAC National Midget Car Series
victory from 81 Speedway on July 25. Coons Jr., will look to extend his
lead in the series title chase with a strong run this weekend. The primary
driver of the No. 11 Wilke-PAK Motorsports machine wants to add
back-to-back Belleville Midget Nationals titles to his already impressive
resume.
Wise also seeks his second Mopar Belleville Midget Nationals title.
Having won the 2003 Belleville Midget Nationals title with Mopar power,
Wise is no stranger to the high speed and high stakes the event presents.
The other half of the Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises duo, Jones, is out
to better his position in the series standings. Jones is ranked eighth,
with strong finishes in recent series events. Wise, the 2005 USAC National
Midget Car Series champion, is currently ranked seventh in the series
points battle.
Strong running Team Mopar privateer Kuhn is also a threat to take the
win this weekend, as the No. 74 team has already earned several victories
this season, most recently on July 25. He picked up his eighth victory in
Badger Midget Series competition on July 23. As with Coons Jr., Wise and
Jones, Kuhn uses Gary Stanton-built Mopar power under the hood.
