TROXEL NABS PROVISIONAL NO 2
POSITION
BAYTOWN, Texas (March 30) – The Morgan Lucas Racing teams took the
provisional qualifying positions of No. 2 and No. 4 in qualifying for
the O’Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park with Melanie
Troxel leading the way of the two-car Top Fuel operation.
Troxel powered her Vietnam Veterans Memorial dragster to an elapsed time
of 4.530 seconds, 323.89 mph while her counterpart, Morgan Lucas ran a
nearly identical time of 4.538 seconds.
“That was nice,” said an elated Troxel. “I haven’t run that well in a
little while and I have to say for today for both cars you couldn’t have
asked for it to go better. You always want to go out there and put a
nice conservative number down, so you know you will be in a good spot
for the nighttime session. That’s exactly what Richard (Hogan, crew
chief) did. He put us in an incredible spot and came out with the No. 2
position.
“Regardless of what happens tomorrow with the weather or anything else,
we’re looking good.”
Qualifying continues with two more sessions on Saturday with the pros
running at 12 p.m. CDT and 3 p.m.
ESPN2 will be airing their qualifying show on Saturday, March 31,
starting at 7 p.m. EDT. |
